While we would usually welcome visitors to our school, at the moment we are closed for visits due to Government Covid-19 guidelines. We look forward to welcoming you into school again as soon as possible.

             Personal, Social and Health Education

Personal Social Health EducationPersonal Social Health EducationThe programme for P.S.H.E. recognises our responsibility in helping our children make healthy choices about their lifestyles both now and in the future. There are many aspects of personal and social education which permeate all of the curriculum. However we do plan a programme for every class which emphasises practical activities, decision-making and learning through experience.

All teaching encourages children to appreciate the value of family life and the values to respect in themselves and each other. Parents are invited to a meeting which outlines the details of the sex education curriculum in years 5 and 6, when a more detailed programme of human reproduction is taught, with particular emphasis in preparing children for the changes which they will experience with the onset of puberty. Parents also have the right to withdraw their children from sex education lessons.

Both children and staff have responded positively to this approach and we are hoping it will encourage the school to develop a shared emotional vocabulary and support the children and help them become more emotionally literate.

We are having a whole school assembly to launch each theme every half term and an assembly at the end of each half term to share some of the work completed by each year group.
