School Council

While we would usually welcome visitors to our school, at the moment we are closed for visits due to Government Covid-19 guidelines. We look forward to welcoming you into school again as soon as possible.

HistoryHistoryAt Pickhill we teach History and Geography through the use of topics which usually last for half a term.  We approach our topics creatively, trying to make links to all other areas of the curriculum.  We focus on the learning of skills and through using those skills the children develop their knowledge and understanding of the topics taught.

We encourage the children to be involved in their own learning.  Planning at the start of the topic is developed with the children and through this child-initiated approach the children are encouraged to pursue their own lines of enquiry within the topic and present their work in a variety of ways.

Creative Curriculum Homework

Our creative curriculum homework is designed to build upon the skills the children have been learning in Numeracy, Literacy, ICT and in other areas of the curriculum.  There are a range of activities/tasks for the children to choose from to motivate and inspire them into becoming independent learners.
