School Council

While we would usually welcome visitors to our school, at the moment we are closed for visits due to Government Covid-19 guidelines. We look forward to welcoming you into school again as soon as possible.

ArtArt Here at Pickhill we help children develop visual perception and creative skills through a wide variety of experiences.  Children have the opportunity to experiment with several types of different media including pencil, paint, pastel, clay, textiles and photography.

Children are encouraged to use a variety of different stimuli as a starting point for a piece of artwork. This could be anything from a landscape, a poem or a piece of artwork by an established artist.  From this inspiration children might create a painting or a collage, make a series of prints or construct something in three dimensions. Throughout the process children are asked to constantly evaluate their own work and that of others in order to appreciate how something was made and to sometimes make improvements.

Pickhill welcomes visits from artists willing to share their skills and offers children an opportunity to focus on creativity during our ‘Art Days’ which are held regularly during the school year.
